innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship - ice

Traveling literally around the world working with educators brought the topics of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship into the spotlight for us. While Americans talk about and acknowledge the need for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship our schools remain mired in problems related to standardized testing, teacher evaluations and a torrent of buzzwords, quick fixes and acronyms. For the most part education and learning in America have been replaced by test prep factories, and American schools have become known as "pipelines to prison" as disillusioned students drop out of school at the rate of one student every 9 seconds!
In the meantime, national governments, industries and ministries of education in many other countries are seriously focusing on Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, and they know that developing these habits, skills and mindsets begins in the classroom.
What's to be done? Integrate teaching of ICE, both in school and in exciting After School programs!
When teachers are asked to teach innovation and entrepreneurship they immediately freeze with fear. We hear comments such as, "How do we teach that?" and "We do not have time as it is to teach the mandated curriculum!"
21st century Curriculum and Instruction - The good news is that it is actually easy to help students develop these important 21st century skills by designing and implementing a Project-Based Curriculum for ICE (Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship), and through this project students will not only learn the CCSS at high levels, but much, much more!
Student Motivation - When students have an opportunity to be involved in such a Project-Based Curriculum they are highly motivated and will achieve at much higher levels than ever before. Attendance rates will increase as students see school as relevant, fun and challenging! They will be bored no more!
During the 2 days of this workshop you will:
(1). Three elements of curriculum for ICE as outlined by Dr. Yong Zhao.
